Located right in front of the wonderful Boanamo river, our campsite is spartan and comfortable at the same time. Wooden stairs are used for access from the canoe to the main hut where we are served all the meals and tourists can relax in hammocks or next to the fire. Connected to this building there’s a big kitchen, where a Huaorani cook prepares Ecuadorian and international food, doing something different each day. We built a pit latrine and a shower that works with water pumped from the river.

Tents for tourists are pitched on four platforms provided with roofs. The huts are made with local wood and the roofs with palm leaves in order to avoid the ecological impact caused by the transportation of materials from the closest town, Coca. All the buildings are open, with beautiful views of the river and surrounding forest.

Wildlife is great in the campsite too, with exceptional opportuties to do birdwatching, spot night creatures and, with a little luck, observe Pink River Dolphins. To reach the Huaorani community of Boanamo, you have to walk just ten minutes on a path in secondary forest or paddle in a traditional wooden canoe along the Boanamo river.
