ARRIVAL OPTIONS

Arrival to Otobo’s main campsite in Boanamo could be a 1 hour flight from Shell-Puyo to Bameno. Bameno is a Huaorani community located downstream and from there Boanamo’s campsite is (about 2 hours by motorized canoe). reachable in 2 hours by motorized canoe.

DEPARTURE OPTIONS
Fly-out
Departure from Boanamo’s campsite by motorized canoe for 2 hours and arrival to Bameno followed by a 1 hour flight to Shell-Puyo.
Motorized canoe
Another option is to fly from Quito to Coca (about ½ an hour flight) or alternatively to arrive to Coca by bus (7 hours). After meeting in Coca, we go by taxi on the Auca road and in 2 hours reach the Shiripuno river, where we board on the motorized canoe. Depending on the water level it takes 7-11 hours to reach the campsite so we usually pass the first night on a beach for camping or by a Huaorani community along the way. Sometimes tourists prefer to skip the camping experience in order to reach straight Boanamo; in this case we have to leave Coca really early in the morning after one night in the Hotel.

Motorized canoe
7-11 hours by motorized canoe to the bridge on the Shiripuno river and then 2 hours taxi to Coca. There’s the possibility to stop the last night for camping along the river or by an indigenous community.
